William JOHNSON (1839)

William JOHNSON was born in 1839 and baptised 12 January 1940 at St Peters, Yoxall, Staffordshire. His parents, Thomas and Jane, give their abode as Hadley End.

In 1941 and 1951, the family are again living in Hadley End. A definite census record for 1861 is yet to be determined. In 1871, William can be found in Hollington, near Ashbourne, Derbyshire. He is living with his wife, Rachel and their one-year-old son, also William. William's occupation is given as  Chimney Sweep. As it turns out, William and Rachel don't formally marry until 17 September 1872. The marriage takes place at St Peters, Yoxall and their residence is given as Hadley End. By 1881, the family are living in Kingsley, near Cheadle, and have another son, Thomas who is nine-years old. William is still a chimney sweep. 1891 finds the family (including a third son, Nathaniel) in a lodging house in Yoxall.

Sadley, William can be found in Cheadle Workhouse in 1901. His family aren't with him although there is a Joseph Johnson who may be a relative of some kind, as might a Robert Hodgkins.

A death record is yet to be determined
